In 1966, Leo and Helen Gisler owned a corn stand in Oxnard, California. They named it DAD's after their three children: Denny, Ann, and David.
In 1972, Leo and Helen moved their family to Porterville, California where Leo began Gisler Farms Corn Stand. They stopped selling for several years when their children left for college.
Dave Gisler, the youngest son, came home from college and started farming alongside his dad.
In 1983, Dave Gisler married Kim (Kennedy). In 1986, a week after their son was born, they resumed the corn stand after Dave's parents took an eight year break.
Together Leo, Helen, Dave, and Kim Gisler worked at the stand along with their children Matt and Katie.
Helen Gisler continued working at the corn stand until the age of 83. Sadly, she passed away from cancer in 2012. Leo Gisler continued to farm with Dave until physical limitations. Leo passed away at the age of 97 in 2020.
Dave and Kim continue to run the corn stand each summer. Though their kids are grown, they still enjoy the visits from their grandchildren.
When they aren't busy with corn season, they grow broccoli and spinach for large processors.
Dave and Kim hope their legacy one day will continue with family members.
